# Photo Credits — Harmattan (scroll concept demo)

**Harmattan is a fictional restaurant.** None of these photographs depicts a Harmattan dish,
dining room, chef, or member of staff. They are licensed stock images used purely to
illustrate a website style for an unofficial concept demo. **The menu is illustrative** —
the dish names and descriptions describe the food shown in the stock photos, not a real
Harmattan menu.

All photos below are from [Pexels](https://www.pexels.com) under the **Pexels License** (free
for commercial use, attribution not legally required). Photographers are credited here as good
practice, and so a real named-business build can swap each one for the restaurant's own photography.

## Honest notes on what these images are

- **Round two of photo selection (this session):** the user supplied a fresh batch of downloaded
Pexels photos and asked for the market/fire chapter to be rearranged and the page brightened.
  `scene-market.jpg`, `scene-fire.jpg`, `dish-1.jpg`, `dish-2.jpg` and `dish-3.jpg` were all
replaced from that batch; two photos from the same batch were deliberately **not used** — see
  "Images considered and rejected" below.
- **Geography is mixed and openly not Ghanaian**: the spice market is unlabelled/generic, the
glaze shot is a Vietnamese clay-pot fish dish (Nam Định), and the "stew pots" course is Turkish
food photographed in Berlin. `dish-1.jpg` (grilled fish) and `dish-2.jpg` (fried plantain,
chicken, corn — genuinely West African) are the closest matches to the cuisine. For a named
client build, replace all six with the restaurant's own food and interior photography before
  launch.
- **The market and "fire" chapters were rewritten, not just re-photographed.** The old "fire"
chapter (raw meat over an open charcoal grill) is now "the glaze" — sauce being basted onto
meat in a clay pot — because no open-flame photo in the new batch was usable (see rejected
list). Copy in both chapters, the hero subhead, and all three course cards were updated to
describe what's actually in the new photos rather than the old ones.
- **The menu is illustrative.** Course names describe what is in the stock photo; they are not
a real Harmattan menu, and every price is left as "to be confirmed".

## Images considered and rejected

Recorded so the same mistakes are not repeated:

- `pexels-photo-3465604` (bar interior) — **rejected**: covered in third-party beer branding
(Budweiser, Stella Artois, Corona, Brahma, Goose Island, Hoegaarden) and identifiable patrons.
- `pexels-photo-30179960` (busy yam market) — **rejected**: crowded with many identifiable
  faces and background wall signage.
- `pexels-photo-18805640` (home plate of rice) — **rejected**: casual/domestic register on a
busy patterned plate with a text-printed napkin; not upscale.
- `pexels-photo-7205249` (chef flambé) — **set aside**: strong image, but a single prominent
  non-African model; for Merimei's African-market focus a fire close-up with no identifiable
  face was preferred instead.
- `pexels-photo-776538` (Restaurant Interior, Lisa Fotios) — **replaced**: the original hero
image. On review it read as a casual cafe/bistro rather than upscale dining (unusual pinecone
pendant lamps, a visible bystander near the window, snowy exterior).
- `pexels-photo-37307304` (Cozy Rustic Restaurant Interior, Le Salama) — **replaced**: this was
the second hero image, swapped in for the same reason as above. It worked well as a photo, but
the whole page's colour palette was reworked from warm brown to deep navy + gold this session
(user feedback: "don't like the brown"), and this photo's warm amber/green tones no longer
matched. Its background wall art carried faint Cyrillic lettering, purely decorative.
- `pexels-photo-27626757` ("fancy Cafe and Restaurant", Ansar Muhammad) — **rejected**: the
photo's own Pexels title is the real venue's name, and a neon "FANCY" sign is legible in the
shot — exactly the "real competing business signage" this project has rejected before.
Identifiable diners are also visible in the background.
- `pexels-photo-38304929` ("Chef Flambé Cooking in Islamabad Kitchen", iram shehzad) —
**rejected**: a single chef's face is clearly visible (surgical mask covers the mouth/nose
only). Same call as the `pexels-photo-7205249` flambé shot above — a strong image, but this
project avoids identifiable individuals in concept-demo photography.

Third-party trademarks, prominent identifiable faces, and off-register/geographically-wrong
imagery must not appear in a concept demo for an unrelated fictional business.
